With the new Astra OPC, the high-performance version of the Astra GTC has its world premiere in Geneva. The OPC´s 2.0 liter (206 kW/280 hp) direct injection turbocharged gasoline engine is capable of maximum torque of 400 Nm and a top speed of 250 km/h. Never before has an Astra reached such a speed. The High Performance Struts (HiPerStruts) on the Astra OPC are one of its big highlights, allowing the car to deliver power without compromise. In combination with the FlexRide chassis system, featuring a dedicated Sport- and OPC-drive mode, the Astra OPC delivers refined handling abilities. The standard mode puts the vehicle in a high comfort setting, while the special sport mode adds a notable extra in agility. The OPC setting places drivers in a third dimension: steering and the gas pedal respond clearly and the chassis enables dynamic handling. However, the OPC model goes one major step further: it has been fitted with a mechanical limited slip differential on the front axle. This gives the OPC even more stability, better handling and traction, in other words: the car has more grip when exiting tight curves and bends at speeds -- even in wet conditions. The Astra OPC also features a new high-performance bucket seat with state-of-the-art technology.
